After the Rain by Greatalmightyqueen After the Rain by Greatalmightyqueen
I figured I'd start slowly uploading some Kentucky pictures in chronological order. Here's Wonder (an Elusive Quality filly) and her mom in mid-July, hanging out after a brief thunderstorm.

(All names I use are nicknames; I signed a confidentiality thing and I'm not quite sure how much I can say. Know, however, that if any of my children start winning graded stakes that I will be bombarding the internet with their baby pictures.)

Copy and pasted answer to the other comment on the subject:

Well spotted! The dam was involved in a freak accident years ago, when she was a racehorse. She flipped over on the shed row and broke her jaw into so many pieces that it was impossible to put them back together--but fortunately, her owner is obscenely wealthy, and decided to go through with a procedure to remove the irreparable fragments and see if she could learn to cope with what she had left. She has since learned to eat by using her tongue to scoop grain or grass into the space behind her upper incisors, and maneuver the food back to her molars to chew. And for all that she's one of the kindest, most laid-back mares on the farm.

She's doing very well! She doesn't seem to have a clue she's any different from any other horse. :)

Oh wow, poor girl! But lucky for her to have such a well off owner. Her expression is very soft, I'm not surprised she's a sweetheart ^^ <3
